How to make a classic topiary with your own hands
In recent years, topiary has become a popular decoration. Now this sweet tree of happiness is made from everything: from sweets, to coffee beans. However, in the classical version, it is more like a tiny tree, with a stem and leaves. Such a topiary will look very exquisite and will be an excellent alternative to houseplants.
You will need:
- A beautiful ceramic pot (you can take a plastic pot);
- Glass jar;
- Ball of expanded polystyrene;
- Several artificial or natural branches (for trunk decoration);
- Any filler (for example: gypsum or foam rubber);
- Green paint and brush;
- A string or wire;
- artificial leaves and berries.
Для кроны будущего дерева можно использовать любые искусственные листочки. Однако, лучше всего смотрятся искусственные суккуленты. Их листья практически невозможно отличить от настоящих. В любом случае отделите листья и ягоды от веток.
Tie together several branches (natural or artificial) to make the trunk of the future tree. Use twine or wire to fix. Pay attention, the thickness of the trunk matters! The trunk of the topiary should withstand the weight of the polystyrene ball and not bend.
A styrofoam ball is painted in green. When the paint dries, fix the green ball on the base (just stick the barrel into the ball). By the way, polystyrene balls can be bought in shops for creativity or departments of floristry.
It remains to arrange the branches on the ball. You just need to stick them in a ball. A ball made of polystyrene foam will fix everything.
The more twigs you have, the more fluffy and bulky will be the topiary.
Place the tree in the center of the can and reinforce the lower end with a filler. As a filler, use gypsum (or tightly fill with foam rubber). Put a jar with a tree in a ceramic pot, and mask it with artificial moss.
If possible, make a couple right away to make a symmetrical composition or organize a small green area in your apartment.
