How to make a serving napkin
To decorate a festive (and not only) table, they usually use stylish dishes, floral arrangements or serving napkins. All of them create a beautiful background, but only the last (serving napkins) are able to further zonate the place of each guest. It is not difficult to make such napkins with your own hands. Today's project will tell about a very unusual and original idea of making such serving napkins from multi-colored threads.
You will need:
- multi-colored thread (yarn);
- pencil pen);
- a plate (or other round object).
Take a sheet of cardboard and attach a plate to it according to the size of the future serving napkin. Circle it with a pen or pencil. In principle, you can use any round object of the required diameter. Then, using a ruler and a pencil, divide the circle into the 32 section. By the way, it's easiest to split the circle in half, then halves in half, and so on. Dot until you get 32 section (need to hold 16 lines through the center).
On the contour of the circle, make allowance approximately in 2 see and cut out. In the areas of allowance, make slots in the continuation of the marking lines (as shown in the photo).
When finished with the cardboard blank, take the thread (it will be used as a frame) and fix in one of the cuts of the template. Then, pull the thread through the center to the opposite edge and thread into the slot (follow the marking lines). On the reverse side, do the same, except that the thread must be inserted into the slot following the original one. Repeat these steps until you wrap the cardboard circle completely in accordance with the marking lines.
Now you can start the circular weaving. At the center of the rope web, fix the thread of yarn (tie the end of the yarn to the rope on a strong knot) and thread the thread in a circle (above then under the thread of the frame). When the first thread is finished, tie another yarn color to it and continue the weaving. Try not to weave too tight.
The more interesting the thread you will use, the more original the napkin you will get as a result. Weave into the napkin immediately a bunch of threads, threads with beads, fringes, buttons, use threads of different shades and colors, different density and texture, make knots. Fantasize and create.
When the napkin is ready, tie the end of the thread to a strong knot and cut the ropes from the back side (as shown in the photo). Then, tie the neighboring ends of the frame threads together, and cut the extra ones.
That's all! The original serving napkin is ready. Following this technique, make a few more such napkins: for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner, for guests, for a tea ceremony, for a New Year's or Christmas table, etc. By the way, such a napkin (or set) will be a wonderful gift for friends and girlfriends, colleagues at work, mom or grandmother.
